Grade 3 in digital literacy in Germany? That is not satisfactory.

On Digital Day, our UX designers and programmers receive a bouquet of flowers in the office. Because you can’t do without them.

June 16 is nationwide Digital Day. The motto is: “Digitization: Discover. Understand. Shape.” All right so far. But, of course, this only works with the right skills. Unfortunately, the survey conducted showed that many people only feel moderately competent in digital matters: School grade 3.

We contrast this with the following quote of unknown origin:  “A computer program does what you tell it to do, not what you want it to do.” (A program only does what you have previously taught it to do, not what you hope it will do).

Digital expertise is also required at ticket machines

So how do we get man and machine to work together?

User expertise is just one factor on the road of digitalization. In addition to the best digitalization strategy and all the good ideas, we also need good UX designers and programmers to ensure that these ideas are implemented correctly. And it is user-friendly for all people, regardless of their background, attitude or age.

This is not a new insight, but if we do not want to remain at school grade 3, we cannot remind ourselves often enough and finally step on the gas in Germany when it comes to digitization.

Digitization is not just a nice option, it is part of everyday life for everyone

After all, digitalization is no longer just a nice option, it is part of everyday life for all of us, whether at the doctor’s surgery, at the ticket machine, at the self-service checkout or when booking an appointment with the city council – or at the many invisible interfaces in society. Without a smartphone, you can’t even pick up a parcel from a postal station. And what does Grandpa Helmut do if he doesn’t have one?

Our conclusion as a communications and digital agency:

Firstly, it is important to keep peoples needs in mind at all times, not just on the “day of digitalization”. With his needs and abilities. Barrier-free.

And secondly, let’s give our UX designers and programmers a bouquet of flowers in the office today. A real one. After all, digital experts are only human.

What can our digital experts do for you?
