UVA crime scene check: dangerous influencer job
Are you also a Sunday night crime scene junkie? In case you missed the last one, here’s our UVA crime scene analysis:
Influencer Evita Vogel aka “MagicMom” has 630,000 followers, who she feeds with videos of her perfectly styled family life. Until she is found hanged in her chic villa. In Münster’s Tatort, Chief Inspector Thiel and forensic scientist Boerne delve into the depths of the influencer scene and the whole social media circus surrounding motherhood and optimized family life, from cargo bike tests to order helper recommendations.
Disgusting shitstorm on the net
The down-to-earth team of investigators, who usually deal with money laundering, tax evasion or subsidy fraud, encounter fraud of a completely different kind here: the faking of facts, namely the good life. So much so that one of the super moms doesn’t even have a baby and runs her business model with dolls. The shitstorm on the net is disgusting but basically a seal of quality.
On the eve of International Women’s Day, this was a shrill and entertaining contribution, which was also decorated with an irony-laden portion of wokeness around the gender and sexism debate.
Social media is more than just colorful pictures online
What does this tell us as an agency for communication and media? Firstly, social media is important and has long been much more than just a few colorful pictures online. It is a power. However, none of the 630000 followers were the perpetrators. It was the husband. However, he didn’t want to kill his super successful wife – he just wanted to be noticed again and be useful for something. Unfortunately, it went completely wrong.
Therefore, the second message of the movie: Despite all the love for modern media and all the awareness of its relevance – don’t forget real life, your loved ones made of flesh and blood.
Thirdly, even in the social media cosmos, what counts in the end is quality rather than quantity at any price. Of course, it is best if both come together. We will be happy to help you.
We are not embarrassed about watching Tatort
And finally: No, we are not ashamed of the fact that we watch Tatort on linear TV. There is always something to learn there. “The Internet is the future,” says Thiel’s old father. And when he says that – then it has finally sunk in with everyone.
